Megan King is a pro bono lawyer based in Melbourne.

Megan works across the national pro bono practice with a focus on human rights, financial abuse, modern slavery, mental health and child exploitation.

Early in her career Megan worked in commercial litigation, where she developed an interest in human rights and pro bono practice. Megan has also worked as a research associate at the Supreme Court of Victoria. Significantly, Megan has over a decade's worth of experience in the community legal sector and has run programs focused on:

  • Promoting the human right to housing for public housing tenants,
  • Access to justice for regional and rural youth through partnering with local services to deliver remote legal services, and
  • Health justice partnerships with public hospitals to prevent and respond to elder abuse.

Megan joined the firm from Justice Connect, where she was principal lawyer of the seniors law team. She has a particular interest on projects that aim to prevent and respond to elder financial abuse, particularly through supporting partnerships with organisations that have close connections with older people.
